Lowland Search Team Leader Course

This course is primarily designed to give the participant the knowledge and skills needed required by a team leader during a lowland missing person search. This course is suitable for members of ALSAR and LS Dogs teams and other interested groups. The participant should however have a good knowledge of basic lowland search skills, and preferably have experience of a number of searches.

This course may also be used as an Advanced Search course for those wishing to develop their skills but with no immediate aspirations to be a Team Leader. There is no compulsion for such delegates to be assessed and as such will be certificated as attending.

The course is delivered and assessed by operational members of several ALSAR Teams.

The course starts at 1900 on Friday and finishes around 1600hrs Sunday afternoon.

The course follows the current ALSAR syllabus which includes;

The Team Leader course is assessed in two ways. Throughout the course participants will be given the opportunity to lead a team. The participant will be observed throughout and assessed on their performance. On the Sunday participants will sit a short written test. Only on successful completion of these two elements will participants be certificated. This certificate lasts three years.

Course fee: £45 for 2007
