| A BabeSafe cover is a slip-on mattress cover which is sealed around the mattress. The cover protects the baby from exposure to gases generated from the elements phosphorus, arsenic and antimony. Compounds of these elements are frequently present in mattresses. BabeSafe covers were designed by New Zealand scientist Dr T J Sprott OBE MSc PhD. The covers are made of high grade 125 micron internally plasticised polyethylene (polythene). This is a chemically inert plastic which is not capable of any "outgassing". It does not contain phthalates or BPA. The covers are waterproof. BabeSafe covers are manufactured in five sizes. To view the size range, click on Mattress cover sizes. BabeSafe covers are sold in New Zealand and other countries by mail order. For information on how to purchase, click on How to order.
